The White Lotus Renewed for a Second Season at HBO

HBO has officially renewed Mike White’s satire comedy series The White Lotus for a second season.

The announcement comes ahead of the first season’s finale, which will debut this Sunday, August 15. The series was originally set up as a limited series, but due to the positive response from critics and viewers, the network ultimately ordered a second installment of The White Lotus.

“Mike has once again delivered a quintessential HBO show, and it’s the talk of the town,” Executive Vice President of HBO Programming, Francesca Orsi said. “We were thrilled to hear where he wanted to go next, after closing this epic chapter in Hawaii and can’t wait to keep following him wherever he takes us.”

The upcoming second season is set to take place in a new location and will be introducing a whole new set of characters. The next chapter leaves Hawaii behind and follows a different group of vacationers as they jet to another White Lotus property and settle in temporarily amongst its inhabitants.

The first season of The White Lotus stars Murray Bartlett, Connie Britton, Natasha Rothwell, Steve Zahn, Sydney Sweeney, Brittany O’Grady, Jake Lacy, Alexandra Daddario, Molly Shannon, Jennifer Coolidge, and Fred Hechinger.

The series is a social satire set at an exclusive Hawaiian resort. “It follows the vacations of various hotel guests over the span of a week as they relax and rejuvenate in paradise,” reads the synopsis. “But with each passing day, a darker complexity emerges in these picture-perfect travelers, the hotel’s cheerful employees, and the idyllic locale itself.”
