During The Simpsons‘ recent Comic-Con@Home panel, executive producer Matt Selman confirmed that the upcoming 33rd season of Fox’s long-running animated series will be starting off with its very first all-musical episode titled, “The Star of the Backstage.” It is set to feature all original songs, with Frozen star Kristen Bell signing on as the singing voice of Julie Kavner’s Marge. The Simpsons Season 33 is slated to make its debut on September 26.
“The premiere this year is the most musical episode we’ve ever done – almost wall-to-wall music,” Selman said (via Variety). “It’s like a Broadway musical of an episode, with all original songs, and we’ve got Kristen Bell playing the role of Marge’s singing voice. We all love Marge’s voice, but this is the singing voice that’s different, let’s just say.”

In addition, more details about the latest installment of The Simpson have been revealed, teasing that the series’ highly-anticipated annual special “Treehouse of Horror XXXII,” will now feature five segments, instead of three. The new season will also pay tribute to Fargo and the growing world of streaming television. Other than Bell, Rachel Bloom (Crazy Ex-Girlfriend), Timothy Olyphant (Fargo), Cristin Milioti (Made for Love), and Brian Cox (Succession) have also been confirmed for guest-starring voice roles.
The series is currently led by long-time voice cast members, Dan Castellaneta as Homer Simpson, Julie Kavner as Marge, Nancy Cartwright as Bart, and Yeardley Smith as Lisa.

Created by Matt Groening (Futurama, Disenchantment), The Simpsons has been on-air for more than 30 years and had become a pop-culture phenomenon. The animated series has already scored its 34th season renewal earlier this year.
