New Ms. Marvel set photos gives fans their first look at Iman Vellani’s Kamala Khan using her powers in the upcoming Disney+ series.
In the photos (which you can see below), Vellani is seen in costume as Ms. Marvel, with her arms outstretched in a prototypical power pose. It’s unclear just exactly what the scene is, but fans won’t have to wait long to figure out what it’s portraying thanks to the show debuting later this year.

Ms. Marvel was first announced by Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige nearly two years ago at the 2019 D23 Event. The Disney+ series marks the live-action debut of the fan-favorite Marvel character. It introduces Kamala Khan, a 16-year-old Pakistani-American growing up in Jersey City. A great student, an avid gamer, and a voracious fanfiction scribe, she has a special affinity for superheroes, particularly Captain Marvel. But Kamala struggles to fit in at home and at school–that is, until she gets super powers like the heroes she’s always looked up to. Life is easier with super powers, right?
The series will be led by Vellani in her acting debut as the titular hero. Following the series, Vellani’s Kamala Khan/Ms. Marvel will next be seen in Nia DaCosta’s Captain Marvel sequel titled The Marvels starring opposite Brie Larson and Teyonah Parris, which is set for a November 11, 2022 release.
Joining her are Aramis Knight, Saagar Shaikh, Rish Shah, Zenobia Shroff, Mohan Kapur, Matt Lintz, Yasmeen Fletcher, Laith Naki, Azher Usman, Travina Springer, and Nimra Bucha.
Ms. Marvel hails from head writer Bisha K. Ali, who is also serving as the showrunner with Adil El Arbi & Bilall Fallah, Meera Menon, and Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy attached as directors. The series is scheduled to debut later this year.
