Robert Emms is taking to the stars, as Deadline is reporting that the actor has joined the cast of the upcoming Rogue One: A Star Wars Story spinoff, Andor.

The actor, most famously known for his roles in HBO’s Chernobyl and His Dark Materials, will join a cast that already features the likes of Diego Luna, Adria Arjona, Denise Gough, Genevieve O’Reilly, Stellan Skarsgard, Fiona Shaw, and Kyle Soller.

Andor centers around Cassian Andor (Luna), who was established in Rogue One, in his early days as a member of the rebellion against the Empire. The series acts as a prequel to the film, with Toby Haynes attached as lead director of the 12-episode first season. Ben Caron and Susanna White are also attached as directors, with Stephen Schiff and Tony Gilroy on as writers.

Andor is executive produced by showrunner Tony Gilroy, who previously directed the reshoots for Rogue One. Gilroy was originally expected to direct the three episodes but was forced to give up the position to Black Mirror’s Toby Haynes due to pandemic-related travel issues.

In Rogue One, a group of unlikely heroes band together on a mission to steal the plans to the Death Star, the Empire’s ultimate weapon of destruction. This key event in the Star Wars timeline brings together ordinary people who choose to do extraordinary things, and in doing so, become part of something greater than themselves.
