Game of Thrones alum and The Flight Attendant star Michiel Huisman is joining Luke Evans in Apple’s action-thriller series Echo 3 in a lead role, according to Variety. The 10-episode series comes from Oscar winner Mark Boal (The Hurt Locker, Zero Dark Thirty) who will serve as executive producer and co-showrunner along with Jason Horwitch. Pablo Trapero will direct.
The project is being shot in both English and Spanish according to the outlet. It is based on the Keshet Broadcasting series When Heroes Fly created by Omri Givon and inspired by Amir Gutfreund’s novel.
Set in South America, Echo 3 follows Amber Chesborough, a brilliant young scientist, who is the emotional center of a small American family. When she goes missing along the Colombia-Venezuela border, her brother (Evans) and her husband, Prince (Huisman) — two men with deep military experience and complicated pasts — struggle to find her against the explosive backdrop of a secret war.
The project is produced by Apple and Keshet Studios.
Executive producers include Keshet Studios’ Peter Traugott, Boal, Horwitch, Stan Wlodkowski, Omri Givon, Eitan Mansuri, and Jonathan Doweck. Avi Nir of Keshet Media Group, Alon Shtruzman of Keshet International, and Karni Ziv of Keshet Broadcasting will also EP.
