The Simpsons Renewed For Two More Seasons at Fox

Fox has officially renewed their long-running animated series The Simpsons for two more seasons. This renewal also comes after the series recently made another change within the voice cast. It has been confirmed that Harry Shearer will no longer be voicing the character of Julius Hibbert, a Black doctor that Shearer had been voicing for over 30 years now. Because of this, Kevin Michael Richardson has stepped up to replace Shearer as the voice of Julius. The iconic series is currently airing its 32nd season and is set to return this Sunday with a brand new episode titled “Yokel Hero.”

“It’s a sincere pleasure to announce the Season 33 and 34 pick-ups for The Simpsons,” Fox Entertainment CEO Charlie Collier said in a statement. Profound respect for and congratulations to Matt, Jim, Al and the many other wonderful partners working really hard to finally elevate ‘The Tracey Ullman Show.’ As they say, ‘practice makes perfect.’”

Creator Matt Groenig and executive producer James L. Brooks celebrated the renewal by teasing fans to expect upcoming big surprises for the series. The legend himself, Homer Simpson also commented on the good news by joking that the show might soon become older than him.

“Everyone at The Simpsons is thrilled to be renewed once more, and we are planning lots of big surprises. Homer will lose a hair, Milhouse will get contact lenses, and Bart will celebrate his tenth birthday for the thirty-third time.” Groening said.

Brooks added, “My biggest move was in the very beginning when I decided to never uncross my fingers.”

“Woo Hoo! With any luck the show will soon be older than I am,” Homer Simpson commented.

Created by Matt Groening (FuturamaDisenchantment), The Simpsons has been on-air for more than 30 years and had become a pop-culture phenomenon. The voice cast consists of Dan Castellaneta as Homer Simpson, Julie Kavner as his wife Marge, Nancy Cartwright as Bart, and Yeardley Smith as Lisa.
