Cate Blanchett Inks First-Look TV Deal at FX

Formed over 20 years ago, Dirty Films is headed by the two-time Oscar winner alongside her husband Andrew Upton and Coco Francini, with the new deal coming on the heels of the banner entering a first-look film production deal with New Republic Pictures.

Cate Blanchett is a legendary talent and it was little surprise that her first role as an Executive Producer and star in an American television program – Mrs. America – was such an overwhelming success,” Gina Balian, president of original programming for FX Entertainment, said in a statement. “Cate, Andrew and Coco are equally talented at crafting and producing incredible stories and we welcome this opportunity to support their future television projects under this overall agreement.

In addition to having starred in the Dahvi Waller-created miniseries, Blanchett acted as executive producer alongside Waller, Francini, Stacey Sher (Reno 911!) and Captain Marvel filmmakers Ryan Fleck and Anna Boden. The nine-episode series debuted in April on Hulu under the FX on Hulu label and received rave reviews from critics, currently maintaining a 95 percent “Certified Fresh” rating on review aggregate Rotten Tomatoes.
