Doctor Who: Next Annual Holiday Episode Has Already Been Filmed

Before all TV productions were shut down to the ongoing global pandemic, the 12th season of Doctor Who had already aired its season finale episode on March 1. However, it was then revealed that another special holiday episode titled “Revolution of the Daleks” is scheduled to premiere later this year.

In a recent interview with EW, Doctor Who actress Mandip Gill, who portrays the role of one of Jodie Whittaker’s time-travelling companions named Yasmin Khan, has officially confirmed that they have been fortunate to be able to finish filming the newest special episode which means that it might still be on track for a 2020 release.

“I can confirm that,” Gil said. “There is a festive episode. We happened to be quite lucky and fit it in, so that will be exciting.”

Last season 11, the new Doctor, Jodie Whittaker, was joined by an all-new cast of characters in the series, including Bradley Walsh, Tosin Cole and Mandip Gill and in a recurring role Sharon D Clarke. Chris Chibnall took over as head writer and executive producer from Steven Moffat for the series.

The series began broadcasting on BBC America in 2005, follows the Doctor, an alien from a race called the Time Lords whose home planet is Gallifrey, and is created by Sydney Newman (The Avengers), and Executive Produced by Russell T. Davies (Torchwood), Julie Gardner (Torchwood), Steven Moffat (Sherlock), Phil Collinson (Coronation Street), Piers Wenger (How I Live Now), Beth Willis, Brian Minchin (Wizards vs. Aliens), Caroline Skinner (Our Girl), and Mal Young (Desperate Scousewives).
