Devils: The CW Nabs US Rights to Patrick Dempsey’s Italian Drama

The CW has officially acquired the rights to Grey’s Anatomy vet Patrick Dempsey’s new Italian drama series titled Devils, Deadline confirmed. It is scheduled to make its U.S. broadcast debut later this year for the Tuesday-8PM slot, replacing Two Sentence Horror Stories and Dead Pixels on the network’s Fall 2020 line-up. This latest series acquisition comes after The CW has also nabbed the rights to CBS All Access’ Tell Me a Story and DC Universe’s Swamp Thing.

Devils is an English-language thriller drama which follows the story of a charismatic yet ruthless Head of Trading at NYL, one of the world’s most important investment banks (played by Borghi), and his mentor, (Dempsey). After Dominic appoints another colleague over Massimo following a bitter promotion battle, Massimo finds himself named prime suspect in a murder investigation. Fighting to clear his name, Massimo becomes involved in an intercontinental financial war and is forced to choose between supporting Dominic or going up against him.

The series stars Alessandro Borghi (Suburra), Kasia Smutniak (Loro), and Patrick Dempsey along with Laia Costa (Victoria), Lars Mikkelsen (The Killing), Malachi Kirby (Roots), Paul Chowdhry (Swinging with the Finkels), Pia Mechler (Everything Is Wonderful), Harry Michell (Chubby Funny) and Sallie Harmsen (Blade Runner 2049).

Devils is created by Alessandro Sermonet, Mario Ruggeri, Elena Bucaccio, Guido Maria Brera, Daniele Cesarano, Barbara Petronio, and Ezio Abbate. The series is also executive produced by Luca Bernabei, Matilde Bernabei, Daniele Passani, Nils Hartmann, Sonia Rovai, Sara Melodia, Luisa Cotta Ramosino, Nick Hurran, Ben Harris, Christopher Lunt and Michael A. Walker. It is a production by Sky Italia and Orange Studios.

The series had aired its first season from April up to May on Sky Atlantic in Italy and has already secured a second season renewal ahead of its debut.
