Amazon Offering Children’s Programming For Free Streaming

Following in the footsteps of many other streaming services, Amazon is looking to lend a helping hand to parents with children stuck at home due to school closures by offering a large list of TV and film titles for free streaming with or without a Prime subscription! (Via The Hollywood Reporter)

For general audiences, as well as families, Amazon is also offering a new space for films currently in theaters that have received early digital releases called Amazon Prime Cinema in which every early debut is receiving the spotlight, including Onward. The latest Pixar outing debuted online over the weekend and topped the rental charts on Amazon, iTunes and Spectrum while fellow early online debuts The HuntThe Invisible Man and Emma. didn’t break the top ten. The online streaming service has been home to numerous family-friendly programming including SpongeBob SquarePants and PBS Kids staples such as Arthur, Daniel Tiger’s Neighborhood and Caillou, and now they have removed the pay wall for many of their own original series including Pete the CatJust Add Magic, Costume Quest, Peg + CatIf You Give a Mouse a Cookie, The Dangerous Book for Boys and Lost in Oz.

In addition to the various series, Amazon has curated a list of family films available to watch for free with ads that includes the Shrek and Smurfs franchise, as well as the Matthew Lillard-led Scooby-Doo films, DreamWorks’ MegamindLittle GiantsThe Nut JobMaxSurf’s UpKangaroo JackAll Dogs Go to HeavenEarly Man, Escape From Planet EarthFurry VengeanceStuart Little, RVFly Away Home and many more!

In addition to Amazon lifting the paywall for their family-friendly programming, many streaming services and premium cable networks are reaching out to fans with extended free trials and programming to help those currently staying home as practicing social distancing has become an important effort around the globe. Other services and networks offering various programming for viewers include Acorn TV, Sundance Now, Shudder, Starz, Showtime and Kanopy.
