Streamers in bidding war over Krysten Ritter’s new dark comedy series
Jessica Jones alum Krysten Ritter is set to reunite with Fresh Off the Boat creator Nahnatchka Khan for a brand new dark comedy series which will be based on author Charles Warady’s upcoming crime novel titled Serial Killer Anonymous. Ritter and Khan have previously worked together on ABC’s Don’t Trust the B— in Apartment 23 which ran on-air for two seasons.
According to Deadline, Ritter and Khan’s reunion project has sparked a competitive bidding war among streaming services including Netflix, Amazon, Hulu, and HBO Max along with premium cable FX. The untitled dark comedy is created and executive produced by Khan as part of her overall deal with Universal Television.
The series will be written by Khan and Angela LaManna (The Punisher). It tells the story of a female serial killer that will be portrayed by Ritter. This marks the 38-year old actress’ latest major TV role since making her last appearance as the titular Marvel hero in Netflix’s Jessica Jones which aired its third and final season last year.
It was also recently announced that NBC has given a series order to Khan’s new comedy series Young Rock which will center on blockbuster star Dwayne Johnson’s young life including his childhood, teenage years and adolescence. Khan is also best known as the creator of ABC’s Fresh Off the Boat which is based on chef Eddie Huang’s life. Starring Randall Park and Golden Globe nominee Constance Wu, the series is currently airing its sixth and final season.
