MacGruber series starring Will Forte in development at Peacock
After it was announced last year that a MacGruber comedy TV series was in the works, Deadline has shared that NBCUniversal’s upcoming streaming service Peacock has revealed its development slate includes the MacGruber series co-written and starring Will Forte, who will reprise his role as the special operative.
After rotting in prison for over a decade, America’s ultimate hero and uber patriot MacGruber is finally released. His mission: to take down a mysterious villain from his past—Brigadier Commander Enos Queeth. With the entire world in the crosshairs, MacGruber (Will Forte), Vicki, and Piper must race against time to defeat the forces of evil. Only to find that evil… may be lurking within.
Forte will write and executive produce the series. Jorma Taccone will write, direct, and executive produce along with John Solomon who will write and executive produce. Additional executive producers include Lorne Michaels, John Goldwyn, Andrew Singer, and Erin David.
The 2010 MacGruber film was adapted from a Saturday Night Live parody sketch and was written by Forte, Solomon, and Taccone (who also directed the parody). Along with Forte, the movie also starred Kristen Wiig, Ryan Phillippe, Val Kilmer, Powers Boothe, and Maya Rudolph.
