WandaVision Set Photos: First Look at Teyonah Parris’ Monica Rambeau

As production continues for WandaVision, the first behind-the-scenes photos from the set of Disney+’s highly-anticipated MCU series have surfaced online (via Just Jared), offering us our first look at Teyonah Parris as adult Monica Rambeau. Also featuring Elizabeth Olsen’s return as Wanda Maximoff, you can check out the full photos below!

In addition, the photos have also teased that the series will officially be featuring the Sentient World Observation and Response Department or better known as S.W.O.R.D. which is a subdivision of S.H.I.E.L.D. that deals with alien threats that jeopardize world security.

In the comics, the department was first created by Joss Whedon and John Cassaday in 2004. Major members of S.W.O.R.D. were previously owned by 20th Century Fox such including S.W.O.R.D. leader Abigail Brand. It is still unclear whether prominent S.W.O.R.D. members will also appear in the series or not but this would definitely mark the live-action debut of the department and the first Marvel property from the Fox-Disney merger that will be integrated into Marvel Studios’ Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Set in the 1950s, WandaVision will follow the story of Olson and Paul Bettany’s superhero characters Scarlet Witch and Vision from the Marvel Cinematic Universe. It will also star MCU newcomers Kathryn Hahn and Teyonah Parris as the grown-up version of Monica Rambeau, a character who first made her appearance in this year’s Captain Marvel. The series is expected to be the first show that Marvel Studios is producing for Disney+ with Jac Schaeffer (Captain Marvel) serving as its producer, showrunner and writer.

Scarlet Witch and Vision were last seen together in 2018’s blockbuster Avengers: Infinity War, though the duo parted on rather depressing terms. Scarlet Witch attempted, nay, destroyed the infinity stone inside Vision’s head, thus killing the man she loved. Except Thanos used the time stone in his gauntlet to undo her actions, which brought Vision back to life … but then he died again when Thanos removed the stone from his head and completed his quest to collect all the infinity stones. The infamous snap heard ’round the universe then effectively turned Scarlet Witch to ash.

The series is scheduled to be released in the Spring of 2021.
