Lisey’s Story was inspired by King’s own experience when he was involved in a serious accident in June 1999. The idea for the novel sprang from a sudden realization he had when he came home from the hospital and saw that all of his belongings are in boxes. Because of that, he saw a vision of what his studio would look like after his death.

DeHaan has signed on to star as Jim Dooley, a fan of Scott Landon (Owen)’s books who holds strong feeling surrounding the author’s unpublished work being released around the world.

Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker director J.J. Abrams will also executive produce via his Bad Robot productions, marking the third series he has set up under the Apple banner. The others include Sara Bareilles’ Little Voice and My Glory Was I Had Such Friends starring Jennifer Gardner. Moore and Ben Stephenson are also set as executive producers.

Lisey’s Story will also be the third collaboration between King and Abrams, who have worked together on the 11.22.63 and the Hulu series Castle Rock which is returned for its second season on October 23.
