Riley Voelkel returns as Freya Mikaelson in Legacies season 2
According to TV Guide, The Originals alum Riley Voelkel has signed on to guest-star in the upcoming second season of The Vampire Diaries spinoff series Legacies. Voelkel will be reprising her role as Freya Mikaelson, Hope’s powerful witch aunt who is set to visit the Salvatore School for the Young and Gifted in season two’s sixth episode.
Fans last saw Freya in the series finale of The Originals which aired last August 2018. In the show’s finale, Freya finally got to live the happy life she always wanted to have as she and her wife Keelin prepares to have a baby together with Vincent as the surrogate father.
Legacies is the next chapter of The Vampire Diaries/The Originals trilogy from executive producer/writer Julie Plec. It tells the story of the next generation of supernatural beings at The Salvatore School for the Young and Gifted, where 17-year-old Hope Mikaelson, and others come of age in the most unconventional way possible, nurtured to be their best selves in spite of their worst impulses all under the watchful eye of headmaster Alaric Saltzman.
The series stars Danielle Rose Russell as Hope Mikaelson, Kaylee Bryan as Josie Saltzman, Jenny Boyd as Lizzie Saltzman, Quincy Fouse as MG Greasley, Matt Davis as Alaric Saltzman, Peyton Alex Smith as Rafael Waithe and Aria Shahghasemi as Landon Kirby.
Plec co-writes and executive produces with Brett Matthews. Leslie Morganstein and Gina Girolamo also executive produce. Legacies is produced by Warner Bros. Television and CBS Television Studios, in association with My So-Called Television and Alloy Entertainment.
Season 2 is scheduled to premiere on October 10.
