NBC Plans on Bringing Remington Steele Back to Television

A new take on “Remington Steele” is on its way to NBC as a half-hour comedy series, Deadline reports. The new show will be a continuation of the world established in the 1980’s version, following Olivia Holt, the daughter of Pierce Brosnan’s Steele and Stephanie Zimbalist’s Laura Holt.

The original series followed the adventures of Laura, a young private detective who, believing her clients would rather hire a male investigator, created the fictional Remington Steele. In the pilot episode, Brosnan’s character, a former thief, winds up taking on the identity, which he maintains for the duration of the series’ five season run.

Ruben Fleischer (Zombieland, Gangster Squad) is attached to direct a pilot episode with a script from David Ronn and Jay Sherick. Heather Petrigala is attached to produce with Fleischer, Ronn and Sherick all serving as executive producers.

There’s no casting information available as of yet, nor is there word on whether or not Brosnan and/or Zimbalist could reprise their roles, but check back for details as soon as they become available.
