Jon Favreau Thinks Another Star Wars Holiday Special Would be ‘Wonderful’

In a recent interview with ET Online, the director gave a shoutout to the Star Wars Holiday Special, a bizarre moment in Star Wars lore that he’s clearly fond of … and might try to bring back via Disney+.

“I was the one who was bringing The Holiday Special to the table, that’s my generation,” Favreau said. “I love The Holiday Special — certain sequences more than others — but I love the introduction of Boba Fett and that rifle that he had. That animated piece still holds up. It’s pretty cool. I draw inspiration from that.”

The Lion King director went on to say he believes a Holiday Special for Disney+ would be a wonderful idea, speaking with his tongue firmly in his cheek. Though, he did urge fans to speak up if they want to see the project come to fruition.

“If you want to see a Holiday Special, let Disney+ know.”

In the meantime, we can continue holding our breaths for the much anticipated series The Mandalorian, which debuts on Disney+ when the service launches on November 12.
