NBCUniversal’s Streaming Service is Called Peacock, Programming Revealed

NBCUniversal has announced that their upcoming streaming service has officially been named Peacock. The service will launch in April of 2020 with both an advertising and subscription model available at launch.

In addition to the branding, NBCUniversal has announced the slate of original programming in development for the service which includes a reboot of the classic series Battlestar Galactica from Mr. Robot‘s Sam Esmail, revivals of Saved by the Bell and Punky Brewster, plus the second original Psych movie (titled Psych 2: Lassie Come Home), and other originals outlined below.

As previously reported, Peacock will also be the exclusive streaming home for The Office starting in 2021. Other NBCUniversal shows set to stream on the service include Bates Motel, Brooklyn Nine-Nine, Cheers, Chrisley Knows Best, Covert Affairs, Downton Abbey, Everybody Loves Raymond, Frasier, Friday Night Lights, House, Keeping Up with the Kardashians, The King of Queens, Married … with Children, Monk Parks and Recreation (exclusive, available Oct. 2020), Parenthood, Psych, The Real Housewives, Royal Pains, Saturday Night Live, Superstore, 30 Rock, Top Chef, Will & Grace, 100 Dias Para Volver (Spanish-language), Betty in NY (Spanish-language), El Barón (Spanish-language), and Preso No. 1 (Spanish-language).

Original movie content will also be made available on the service with new movies produced by Universal Pictures, Focus Features, and DreamWorks Animation. Feature films that will stream on the service at launch include American Pie, Back to the Future, A Beautiful Mind, Bourne franchise, The Breakfast Club, Bridesmaids, Brokeback Mountain, Casino, Dallas Buyers Club, Despicable Me franchise, Do the Right Thing, Erin Brockovich, E.T. The Extra Terrestrial, Fast & Furious, Field of Dreams, Jaws, Knocked Up, Mamma Mia!, Meet the Fockers, Meet the Parents, and Shrek.
