Quiz: AMC and ITV Order Three-Part Drama With Michael Sheen to Star

AMC network in partnership with ITV have officially given a three-part limited series order to Quiz which will center on 2001’s Who Wants to Be a Millionaire? cheating scandal committed by married couple Charles and Diana Ingram.

The series will star Matthew Macfadyen (Pride & Prejudice) as Major Charles Ingram, Sian Clifford (Fleabag) as Diana Ingram, and Michael Sheen (The Queen, Frost/Nixon) as game show host Chris Tarrant. Quiz will be directed by Stephen Frears (A Very English Scandal) from a script written by James Graham (Brexit: An Uncivil War). Dan Winch, William Village, James Graham, Stephen Frears and Left Bank CEO, Andy Harries will be serving as executive producers with Alice Pearse set to produce.

“I was gripped by this story over 15 years ago, and I’m still gripped now. It’s a very English heist,”  writer James Graham said in a statement. “Putting it onto stage at Chichester and the West End was such a lot of fun, and with a new team we now get to re-imagine the whole story afresh for television. I have to pay credit to the late investigative journalist Bob Woffinden, who along with James Plaskett wrote the book Bad Show that kicked the whole creative process off by asking the question – what if the Major is innocent?”
