Drew Barrymore Filming Pilot for Daytime Talk Show

Drew Barrymore is looking to stay working in the small screen for now. The actress, who’s Netflix series The Santa Clarita Diet was just canceled after its third season, is reportedly filming a daytime talk show pilot. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Barrymore is making the pilot for CBS, though the network declined to comment.

It’s not the first time the actress has flirted with the idea of taking to the couch for daytime TV. In 2016, she’d had meetings with Warner Bros. about a similar project, although nothing came to fruition.

This would come at a strange time when several high-profile names are considering getting into the daytime talk circuit. Currently, singer Kelly Clarkson, journalist Tamron Hall and motivational speaker Mel Robbins are all considering similar ideas. Then there’s daytime talk stalwart Jerry Springer’s new court show, Judge Jerry, because of course, that’s a thing.

Currently, CBS airs daytime talkers Dr. Phil, Rachel Ray and the doctors from The Doctors, as well as Judge Judy and Hot Bench for the courtroom side of things. While nothing’s certain, it’s possibly Barrymore could have her name added to that roster.
