Joe Holt Joins The Walking Dead Spinoff Series in Recurring Role

Following the addition of Nico Tortorella (Younger) as Felix, Deadline reports that The Punisher alum Joe Holt has joined the cast of AMC’s second spinoff series of The Walking Dead in a recurring role. Holt will step into the role of Leo Bennett, described as a solid family man and respected professor with a generous heart and unwavering optimism for the future. He’d risk his life to save the people he cares about.

The series will also star Alexa Mansour as Hope, Nicolas Cantu as Elton, Hal Cumpston as Silas, Annet Mahendru as Huck and Aliya Royale as Iris.

The untitled spinoff will serve as the third show of the television franchise, following The Walking Dead and Fear the Walking Dead. According to AMC, the series will feature two young female protagonists and focus on the first generation to come-of-age in the apocalypse. Some will become heroes, some will become villains. In the end, all of them will be changed forever. Grown-up and cemented in their identities, both good and bad.

The Walking Dead spinoff will have writer and producer Matt Negrete showrunning alongside chief content officer Scott M. Gimple. The series has been given a 10-episode order.

The first spinoff, Fear the Walking Dead, is currently airing its fifth season, with new episodes premiering every Sunday night on AMC. The Walking Dead is scheduled to return for its 10th season this October.

The Walking Dead spinoff is expected to air in the Spring of 2020.
