Platform gets pilot order

B.J. Novak Anthology Series Platform Gets Pilot Order From FX

FX has ordered a pilot for the new anthology series Platform, which will be written, directed and executive produced by B.J. Novak (The Office).

According to Deadline, Lucas Hedges (Manchester by the Sea), Jon Bernthal (The Punisher), Kaitlyn Dever (Booksmart), Boyd Holbrook (Logan), O’Shea Jackson Jr. (Ingrid Goes West), George Wallace (Law & Order) and Ed Asner (Doom Patrol) have all signed on to star. Other arrangements are currently being made for other actors as well. FX Productions will serve as the studio.

The pilot, which began filming this week will use the boldest issues of our time as a jumping-off point to tell singular, character-driven stories about the world we live in today. It’s being reported that every episode will have a drastically different tone, much like a true anthology.

Novak starred as temp-turned-executive-turned-temp Ryan Howard on the first eight seasons of The Office, as well as serving as a writer, director and producer on the show. He left in the final season along with Mindy Kaling to focus on her now-canceled series, The Mindy Project, though he did make a couple of cameo appearances in season 9.

He also authored two books, One More Thing: Stories and Other Stories, which was a NYT bestseller, and the kids’ book, The Book with No Pictures.
