The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy TV Series in Development at Hulu

Deadline is reporting that The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy comedy sci-fi novels are being developed as a TV series for Hulu from Carlton Cuse (Lost, Jack Ryan, Locke & Key) and Jason Fuchs (Wonder Woman, Pan, I Still See You).

Written by Douglas Adams, The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy books became hugely successful worldwide, being translated in 30 languages. The popular British culture staple began as a comedy radio series, and fans Cuse and Fuchs are set to write and executive produce the series. You can pick up all three of the books by clicking here!

The series follows the intergalactic adventures of Arthur Dent, a hapless Englishman, following the destruction of the Earth by the Vogons, a race of unpleasant and bureaucratic aliens.

In 2005, Disney debuted a feature adaptation of the stories, which starred Martin Freeman, Sam Rockwell, Mos Def, Zooey Deschanel, Bill Nighy, John Malkovich, Stephen Fry, and Alan Rickman. The movie was directed by Garth Jennings and co-written by Adams and Karey Kirkpatrick.

The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy series is in development at Hulu via ABC Signature and Cuse’s Genre Are as part of Cuse’s overall deal with ABC Studios.
