Amazon Will Adapt Image Comics’ Paper Girls As a Series

The Stranger Things of comics is heading to Amazon. Deadline is reporting that Amazon Studios has struck a deal to adapt Brian K. Vaughan and Cliff Chiang’s Image comic book, Paper Girls, as a live-action series.

Toy Story 4 co-writer Stephany Folsom will be the showrunner and primary writer of Paper Girls. The series is being produced by Plan B and Legendary TV; which recently signed Vaughan to a development deal. Vaughan and Chiang debuted the comic in 2016, and it quickly won a fan following and critical acclaim.

Paper Girls follows the story of four teenage girls: Erin, MacKenzie, KJ, and Tiffany. While delivering newspapers in 1988, the girls find themselves thrust into a war between time-traveling factions. Along the way, the girls also discover what their respective futures hold. The series is set to end later this month with Paper Girls #30.
