SYFY is currently developing a spinoff series featuring Lobo, the DC Comics character who will be making an appearance in Krypton Season 2, Variety has confirmed.

Lobo is an alien bounty hunter that was originally created as a spoof of ultra-violent figures like Marvel’s Wolverine or The Punisher. First appearing in the comics in 1983 as a villain, the character became a hero over time and headlined his own comic series between 1993-1999. Lobo is usually portrayed as one of the strongest and most dangerous characters in the DC Universe, as well as one of the most foul-mouthed personalities.

Emmett J. Scanlan (Safe, Gangs of London) plays the character on DC Universe’s Krypton, but the outlet notes that no additional details on the Lobo casting were available at this time. Krypton executive producer Cameron Welsh will write and executive produce the spinoff.

Krypton is SYFY’s most-watched debut season since 2014 and the most-watched season for any scripted series on the network since 2015’s Defiance.  The series has averaged about 1.8 million viewers a week, breaking records for the network.

Set two generations before the destruction of the legendary Man of Steel’s home planet, Krypton follows Superman’s grandfather (Cameron Cuffe, The Halcyon) — whose House of El was ostracized and shamed — as he fights to redeem his family’s honor and save his beloved world from chaos. The Seg-El name is both a nod to Superman co-creator Jerry Siegel and a reference to John Byrne’s 1980s miniseries, “The World of Krypton.” Cameron Cuffe is set to play Seg-El along with Georgina Campbell as Lyta Zod.

Krypton stars Cameron Cuffe, Georgina Campbell, Elliot Cowan, Ann Ogbomo, Rasmus Hardiker, Wallis Day, Aaron Pierre, Ian McElhinney, and Shaun Sipos.

Based on DC characters, Krypton is executive produced by David S. Goyer (Man of SteelBatman v Superman: Dawn of JusticeThe Dark Knight trilogy). Cameron Welsh (Ash vs Evil Dead) will serve as executive producer and showrunner.

The series returns tonight, and viewers can catch up on Krypton at SYFY on demand which includes SYFY.com and the SYFY App.
