Hulu’s Runaways finds its Morgan le Fay in Elizabeth Hurley
TVLine has brought word that the upcoming third season of Hulu’s hit adaptation of the Marvel Comics series Runaways has expanded its cast with the addition of Elizabeth Hurley (Austin Powers: International Man of Mystery) in the role of the iconic villain Morgan le Fay!
“Elizabeth Hurley is joining the Marvel Universe, and we couldn’t be more thrilled to have her portraying one of the most enchanting Marvel characters,” Marvel Television chief Jeph Loeb said in a statement.
Le Fay is described as a student of legendary sorcerer Merlin and is herself considered the greatest sorceress of all time, having a black crow as her familiar and the abilities to enchant objects, manipulate mystic energy and astral project.
Hurley is best known for her roles in the hit 1997 Mike Myers-starring spy comedy spoof Austin Powers: International Man of Mystery, the 2000 remake of the black comedy Bedazzled starring Brendan Fraser (George of the Jungle) and the E! fictional royal drama The Royals.
Starring Lyrica Okano, Virginia Gardner, Ariela Barer, Gregg Sulkin, Allegra Acosta, and Rhenzy Feliz, seasons 1 and 2 are now available for streaming, exclusively on Hulu. The series got a delayed third season renewal almost six months after its previous season’s premiere and began production on the new 10-episode new season last month.
The Runaways have left their homes (and evil parents) behind and now have to learn to live on their own. As they scavenge for food, search for shelter, and take care of one another, our kids begin to realize that, for better or worse, they’re stuck with each other. And it’s up to them to take down PRIDE once and for all. But someone sent a mysterious message to Jonah… Is there a mole in the Runaways? Meanwhile, PRIDE is focused on finding their children, and Jonah has his own dangerous plan in mind.
The cast for the series includes Ariela Barer (New Girl, One Day at a Time) as Gert Yorkes, Lyrica Okano (The Affair, Unforgettable) as Nico Minoru, Rhenzy Feliz (Teen Wolf, Casual) as Alex Wilder, Gregg Sulkin (Faking It, Don’t Hang Up, Anti Social) as Chase Stein, Virginia Gardner (Goat, Little Bitches) as Karolina Dean, and Allegra Acosta (100 Things to do Before High School, Just Add Magic) as Molly Hernandez. The O.C. and Gossip Girl creators Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage serve as co-showrunners/writers and executive produce the series along with Marvel’s Jeph Loeb and Jim Chory.
