Netflix sci-fi series Warrior Nun casts Sylvia De Fanti
The cast of the Netflix series Warrior Nun continues to take shape. Sylvia De Fanti (Medici) has been cast in a regular series role opposite Alba Baptista in the upcoming sci-fi/drama, according to Deadline.
De Fanti will play Mother Superion, a character who’s responsible for training the Warrior Nuns. After witnessing horrible atrocities as a child, she becomes burdened with the guilt over everything she did — and didn’t do — while just trying to survive. Now, she may not give the orders, but she keeps the order in line.
The series is inspired by the Manga novels of the same name and revolves around a 19-year-old woman who wakes up in a morgue with a new lease on life and a divine artifact embedded in her back. She discovers she is now part of an ancient order that has been tasked with fighting demons on Earth, and powerful forces representing both heaven and hell want to find and control her.
Simon Barry (Continuum) serves as writer, showrunner, and executive producer for the 10-episode series. Amy Berg (Counterpart) is consulting producer with Terri Hughes Burton (The 100) serving as co-executive producer. Producer Stephen Hegyes (50 Dead Men Walking) is also attached.
