Netflix series You lands Charlie Barnett for second season

The Netflix series You continues to expand its cast for the upcoming sophomore season. Per Deadline, Russian Doll actor Charlie Barnett has been cast in a recurring role for Season 2. Barnett will play Gabe, a successful acupuncturist and psychedelics expert who lives his life in L.A. life to the fullest.

You Season 2 stars returning cast members Penn Badgley and Ambyr Childers, with a new cast including Victoria Pedretti (The Haunting of Hill House), Robin Lord Taylor (Gotham), Adwin Brown (Heathers), Chris D’Elia (Workaholics), James Scully (Heathers), and Jenna Ortega (Jane the Virgin).

In Season 1 of You, a brilliant male bookstore manager (Penn Badgley) who crosses paths with an aspiring female writer (Elizabeth Lail), pushes the limits of “love” to the test. A charming yet awkward crush becomes something even more sinister when the writer becomes the manager’s obsession. Using social media and the internet, he uses every tool at his disposal to become close to her, even going so far as to remove any obstacle — including people — that stands in his way of getting to her.

Season 2 of the series will be loosely based on the second novel in the series, Hidden Bodies, which will follow Goldberg as he travels to Los Angeles and meets aspiring chef Love Quinn, who is uninterested in social media the way his previous love interest was.

Developed by Sera Gamble & Greg Berlanti based on the book by Caroline Kepnes, You launched as a Lifetime series with Netflix as SVOD/international partner. Starting with Season 2, You will be a Netflix original. The series is produced by Berlanti Productions, Man Sewing Dinosaur and Alloy Entertainment in association with Warner Horizon Scripted Television. Berlanti, Gamble, Sarah Schechter, Leslie Morgenstein, Gina Girolamo, and Marcos Siega are executive producers.
