The CW Announces That Arrow Will End After Season 8

In a surprise announcement, The CW has revealed that Arrow’s upcoming eighth season will be its last. Series star Stephen Amell reflected on the news in a recent tweet. You can check out what he had to say below.

When the series premiered in 2012, Arrow launched a sprawling universe (or “Arrowverse”) of CW shows based on DC comics characters. The second season famously introduced Grant Gustin’s Barry Allen, who later headlined The Flash. It also paved the way for annual crossover events that starred Amell, Gustin, Melissa Benoist’s Supergirl, and more. It’s not clear how the show’s conclusion will affect future crossovers. However, Amell could always be recruited for occasional guest-appearances an any of The CW’s other series.

Amell subsequently shared a much longer video on his Facebook page. In the video, Amell explains that he decided to leave Arrow behind near the end of the sixth season. He went on to relate his discussions with the show’s creative team, before they came to a mutual decision to end the series.

All good things…
