Idris Elba headed to Saturday Night Live for hosting debut
He’s fought zombies, intergalactic gods, kaiju and the Starfleet Academy, but Idris Elba is now going up against one of the toughest foes he will ever face in his career: the New York City audience of Saturday Night Live.
The long-running NBC sketch series took to Twitter this morning to announce the next two weeks’ hosts and musical performers:
The 46-year-old English actor, well-known for his work in the Pacific Rim franchise, Marvel Cinematic Universe, the acclaimed HBO drama The Wire and the long-running BBC crime drama Luther, will be making his hosting debut for SNL alongside the debut of Khalid.
Elba has a lot of upcoming work on his plate with the long-awaited release of his directorial debut Yardie set for a March 15 release alongside the premiere of his Netflix comedy series Turn Up Charlie, while also set to star as the villain in the upcoming Fast & Furious spin-off Hobbs & Shaw alongside Dwayne Johnson (Fighting with My Family) and Jason Statham (The Meg), which is slated for an August 2 release, as well as the film adaptation of the classic Broadway play Cats, which is set for a December 20 release.
