Netflix’s Spinning Out Adds Evan Roderick to Cast

Following the recent casting of Willow Shields (The Hunger Games) as Serena, The Wrap reports that Arrow actor Evan Roderick has been tapped to play the role of Justin in Netflix’s figure skating drama series Spinning Out. Justin will be the skating partner of Kaya Scodelario’s character Kat. He is described as a someone who could get away with his “wild party-boy antics due to his Olympic-level skating abilities.”  Because he is teamed up with Kat, he will soon realize that “he has finally met his match on and off the ice.”

Spinning Out is a 10-episode series created by former competitive figure skater Samantha Statton (Mr. Mercedes). It will follow the story of Kat Baker (Scodelario), an up-and-coming, high-level single skater who’s about to turn in her skates after a disastrous fall took her off the competition track. When Kat seizes an opportunity to continue her career as a pair skater with a talented bad-boy partner, she risks exposing a fiercely kept secret that could unravel her entire life. On and off the ice, Kat and her new partner will face daunting odds, injury to body and soul, financial sacrifice, and even potential mental breakdown on their way to realizing their Olympic dream.

Stratton and Lara Olsen (90210, Free Rein) will serve as co-showrunners and executive producers for the Netflix series. Tory Tunnell and Joby Harold will also executive produce for Safehouse Pictures.

Scodelario is best known her role as Effy Stonem in the British teen drama titled Skins and has also appeared in The Maze Runner film series opposite Dylan O’Brien. She will next be seen in the crime thriller Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil and Vile which is set to premiere in January 2019 at the Sundance Film Festival.
