First Look at Traitors Spy Drama from Channel 4 & Netflix Released

Channel 4 and Netflix have released a first look at the spy drama Traitors. You can check out the photo below in the gallery (via Deadline).

Formerly titled Jerusalem, Traitors is set in the aftermath of WWII when Britain was struggling to define itself in a new world order. The series stars Michael Stuhlbarg (Shape of Water, Call Me By Your Name), Matt Lauria (Friday Night Lights), Keeley Hawes (Bodyguard), Emma Appleton (The End of the F***king World), and Luke Treadaway (A Streetcat Named Bob).

Appleton plays Feef Symonds, a bold and ambitious 20-something woman who joins the Civil Service in 1945, just as Attlee’s Labour party sweeps to victory, while Lauria stars as her American lover Peter and Stuhlbarg plays fellow American and zealot Rowe. Feef agrees to spy on her own government for the Americans, who are determined to make sure England’s burgeoning Socialist ambitions don’t play into Soviet hands. Struggling to work out what she stands for, and what she’s capable of, Feef must learn to think for herself and play by her own rules at a time when knowledge becomes power and nothing and no one is what they seem. Hawes plays Feef’s exacting boss at the civil service, while Treadaway stars as a newly elected Labour MP.

The six-part series was created and written by Bash Doran (Masters of Sex, Boardwalk Empire) and directed by Dearbhla Walsh and Alex Winckler.

42 and Warner Bros’ Twenty Twenty Television will produce. Rory Aitken, Eleanor Moran, Emma Willis, and Tim Carter will serve as executive producers alongside co-executive producers Josh Varney and Ben Pugh. All3Media International will co-fund the project.

Traitors will air on Channel 4 and globally on Netflix outside of the U.K. and Ireland in early 2019.
