Jennifer Garner to Star in J.J. Abrams Drama for Apple

J.J. Abrams is reuniting with Alias star Jennifer Garner in Apple’s limited series My Glory Was I Had Such Friends, The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed. Apple gave the project a straight-to-series order with Abrams set to executive produce.

Garner recently starred in HBO’s Camping and is best known for playing Sydney Bristow in the ABC series Alias. Previous credits include Peppermint, Love, Simon, The Tribes of Palos Verdes, and 13 Going on 30. Garner’s upcoming projects include Wonder Park and the comedy Yes Day.

My Glory Was I Had Such Friends is based on the 2017 memoir by Amy Silverstein. The drama showcases the power of friendship and the resilience of the human spirit as it follows an extraordinary group of women who supported Silverstein as she waited for a second life-saving heart transplant.

Garner will executive produce alongside Abrams, who will EP through his Bad Robot Productions banner, and Bad Robot head of TV Ben Stephenson (Westworld). Karen Croner (The Tribes of Palos Verdes) will pen the script as well as executive produce.

My Glory Was I Had Such Friends serves as Abrams’ second series for Apple, joining the dramedy Little Voice starring Sara Bareilles.
