Variety has brought word that cable network TBS has ordered an adaptation of the acclaimed graphic novel Strange Times written by former Blink-182 band member Tom DeLonge.

DeLonge, who co-founded the rock group in 1992 and was its co-lead vocalist and guitarist, left Blink-182 in 2015 following some differences in management over the band’s production schedules, which would take him away from other projects he was working on that explored his fascination for everything extraterrestrial and paranormal. He would turn this passion towards writing, which included a children’s book before his departure in 2013, a three-part comic book series based on his own short film Poet Anderson: The Dream Walker and his third novel Strange Times: The Ghost in the Girl, which is intended to be a trilogy.

The 42-year-old Del Mar native will be executive producing the series alongside Stan Spry for The Cartel, Russell Binder for Strike Entertainment and Jeff Holland, and the series will be written and executive produced by Aaron Karo.

This is a dream I’ve had for over 10 years and it’s finally a reality. All the stories and themes I work on are meant to be shared through multiple mediums and on different platforms — film, TV, books, music and so on,” DeLonge said in an interview with Variety. “We hope to create something that could be described as sort of a “science fiction Disney,” where our entertainment franchises are worlds that are inspired and informed by our own next-generation science division.”

DeLonge also hopes that the series adaptation will feature a soundtrack full of some of his favorite rock groups, including the Queers, Bad Religion and the Descendents, who he hopes will give the rights to their song “Suburban Home” for the title song for the series.
