Supergirl Casts Jessica Meraz as the Show’s New Villain

The CW’s DC series Supergirl has found its next big bad. Deadline reports that Jessica Meraz (Major Crimes) has been cast as Jessica Ferrar, who’s better known as the notorious supervillain Menagerie. In the comics, Menagerie is equipped with metamorphosis powers, giving her control over alien lifeforms known as “symbeasts” which she can command and bend to her will.

Supergirl stars Melissa Benoist as Kara Danvers/Supergirl, Mehcad Brooks as James Olsen, Chyler Leigh as Alex Danvers, Jeremy Jordan as Winslow ‘Winn’ Schott, Katie McGrath as Lena Luthor, Jess Rath as Brainiac 5, and David Harewood as Hank Henshaw/J’onn J’onnz. New to the cast for the fourth season is Sam Witwer as Agent Liberty, Rhona Mitra as Mercy Graves, and Bruce Boxleitner as Vice President Baker.

Based on the DC characters created by Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster, the series is executive produced by Greg Berlanti, Sarah Schechter, Robert Rovner and Jessica Queller. Supergirl is produced by Berlanti Productions in association with Warner Bros. Television.
