David Spade Joins HBO Comedy from Diablo Cody, Jason Reitman

David Spade has signed up for an untitled half-hour HBO comedy series from Diablo Cody (Jennifer’s Body) and Jason Reitman (Up in the Air), according to Deadline.

Per the report, the series “centers on Calvin Wash, played by Spade, who in the 90s was a semi-famous grunge musician hooked on heroin. Now he’s clean, sober and working as a waiter in the Valley. When he meets troubled 20-something actress Bailey, both of their lives change in unexpected and electrifying ways.”

Cody will executive produce the comedy via her Vita Vera Films, while Reitman will executive produce and direct. The duo previously collaborated on Juno, Young Adult and Tully.
