The Witcher, Series Premiere: Cavill stars as Geralt of Rivia, a solitary monster hunter, struggles to find his place in a world where people often prove more wicked than beasts. But when destiny hurtles him toward a powerful sorceress, and a young princess with a dangerous secret, the three must learn to navigate the increasingly volatile Continent together. The series will launch on Friday, December 20.

Ultraviolet, Season 2 Premiere: The (subtitled) Polish crime drama following an online community of amateur sleuths who use technology to solve crimes — and make quirky friends — in their quest for justice has returned for a second season. In Season 2, Ola (Marta Nieradkiewicz) and her team continue to solve crimes, including one that hits close to home, as a new detective joins the force. The new season will begin streaming on Thursday, December 19.

Wisting, Series U.S. Premiere: After acquiring the rights to the Norwegian detective series starring Carrie-Anne Moss (The Matrix franchise) as an FBI agent, Sundance Now is debuting the exclusive U.S. premiere of the 10-part series that tells the story of Norwegian homicide detective William Wisting (Sven Nordin) chasing an American serial killer. Wisting will premiere on Wednesday, December 18.

Acorn TV

Slings & Arrows, Season 3 Premiere: The darkly comic Canadian series follows the fortunes of a dysfunctional Shakespearean theatre troupe, exposing the high drama, scorching battles, and electrifying thrills that happen behind the scenes. Led by Paul Gross (Tales of the City), Season 3 will begin streaming on Monday, December 16.

Renewals

Star Trek: Picard, Season 2: CBS All Access has given an early renewal to its upcoming Star Trek: Picard series for a 10-episode second season! Starring Sir Patrick Stewart, the series is set to debut on January 23, 2020.

The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, Season 4: Less than a week following the Season 3 premiere, Amazon Prime Video officially renewed its award-winning comedy series for a fourth season! Production on the new season is expected to begin in the spring of 2020. The first three seasons are available to stream now for Amazon Prime members.

Special, Season 2: Ryan O’Connell’s Emmy-nominated shortform series, executive produced by Jim Parsons, has been renewed for a second season at Netflix! The comedy about a gay man with mild cerebral palsy who decides to rewrite his own identity is based on O’Connell’s memoir, I’m Special: And Other Lies We Tell Ourselves. The first season is available to stream on Netflix.
