GLOW Season 3 Episode 8 Recap

GLOW Season 3 Episode 8 Recap

In the previous episode of Netflix’s GLOW, a studio was interested in making Justine’s movie, and Debbie went out with a rich rancher whom she called Tex. In GLOW Season 3 Episode 8, Ruth questioned her career choices, and Bash and Rhonda had a proposal for Sandy.

True West

Ruth felt the monotony of performing the same show day after day. GLOW had just completed its 200th. Russell called to tell her that he got a job working in Spain. He thought she was breaking up with him. Sheila asked Ruth if she wanted to run lines with her. She was performing a scene from True West for Bobby’s AIDS charity event. After going through the scene, Ruth was blown away by Sheila’s acting and negatively compared herself to Sheila.

Debbie ran into Ruth in the hallway and asked Ruth to come with her. Tex had bought Debbie a horse, and she was checking it out. Ruth expressed her acting insecurities to Debbie. She wondered what it would be like if she and Debbie went back to LA and performed a play together. Debbie wasn’t interested. She was happy with what she was doing now. Ruth went home by herself. She stopped at a psychic’s trailer for a reading. She wanted to know if she was wasting her life. When Ruth got back to the hotel, she listened to a message from Sam. He asked her to play a part in Justine’s movie.

Ruth’s conversation with Debbie stirred her into action. Since GLOW was practically running on autopilot she needed something to produce. Debbie offered to produce Bobby’s charity event for free.

GLOW Season 3 Episode 8 Recap

The casino manager, Al, asked Cherry to come to his office. She owed the casino $5,000. Because she was a performer, he gave her a week to get the money. Carmen saw Cherry sneaking out in a disguise. She was going to mud-wrestle for the money. Carmen volunteered to wrestle with her. At least, Cherry would be wrestling with someone who knew what she was doing.

Rhapsody in the 80s

GLOW Season 3 Episode 8 Recap

Bash and Rhonda would be producing Rhapsody. With the influx of money, Sandy wanted to introduce a new part of the show highlighting Old Hollywood. Bash had his own ideas. He wanted to add “BMX babes” to the show to bring it into the 80s. When Sandy proposed updating the music as a compromise, Rhonda and Bash were straight with her. Ticket sales have gone down, and people weren’t coming to see Rhapsody anymore. If they didn’t modernize the show, Rhapsody wouldn’t be a good investment for them.
