Supergirl season 4 finale recap
The Supergirl Season finale kicks off during the events of the previous episode. As Red Daughter battles with Supergirl, Lex enacts his plan to have the Kaznians attack the U.S. Lex uses his power suit to either shoot down the Kaznian missiles or to catch them and throw them back at the Kaznian warships. Red Daughter, thinking and reporting that she killed Supergirl, understands too late that Lex has betrayed her and Kaznia. Lex blasts her and tells the world that he single-handedly stopped the Kaznians and killed Supergirl.
Lex is named the Secretary of Alien Affairs by a puppet president. Lex invites Lena and Lilian to the White House, where he reveals his full plan. Lex has been using the aliens he has obtained from Lockwood and the DEO to fuel a new Claymore weapon that he plans to deploy against Argo, killing Superman. Lex believes himself above the truth, but the expose that Kara publishes exposing Lex and the president proves otherwise.
J’onn and Dreamer arrive on Shelly Island, where the aliens are harvested for their powers. Working with the other captives, the two create a diversion and manage to shut down the power dampening pylons on the island. Dreamer is able to astral project to Brainy, who rallies Supergirl, Alex, and James to Shelly Island.
There, Brainy tries to shut down the Claymore but cannot. J’onn and Dreamer attempt to overload the power core instead. Their decision defies logic, causing Brainy to reboot, becoming his old self again and professing his live to Dreamer. The captive aliens escape, including Red Daughter, who Lex did not kill and is using as a living battery.
Lockwood arrives on the island, looking for revenge against Lex and to kill Lex’s alien captives. Alex and James battle Lockwood and his goons. In the fight, both Lockwood and James have the Harun-El removed from their bodies with Lena’s extraction device.
The Quest For Peace
Lex flies to the island to stop the attack on the refinery. Lex battles Supergirl with kryptonite in his power suit. Supergirl has a kryptonite-insulating suit of her own, but is still outmatched. As Lex blasts Supergirl, Red Daughter pusher her out of the way and suffers the blast. Red Daughter dies and her power returns to Supergirl. Supergirl, at full power, defeats Lex, who appears to be killed when his power suit fails.
Lena knows better than to believe that Lex is dead. She confronts Lex and extracts the Harun-El from Lex’s system. Lena shoots and kills Lex, but not before he reveals that everyone else has been lying to Lena. Kara is Supergirl.Kara admits to Alex that she wants to tell Lena the truth, but Alex suggests the time isn’t right yet to do so. Alex and Kelly decide to make their relationship a romantic one, as do Brainy and Nia.
Eve is in disguise trying to leave town, but is addressed by an older woman who ordered Eve to work for Lex in the first place. The woman tells Eve that Leviathan is everyone, everywhere, and is coming. The Monitor appears on earth and releases J’onn’s brother to seek out revenge against J’onn. The Monitor pays one last visit to Lex’s corpse, though what the Monitor does with the corpse is not shown.
