The Punisher Season 2 Episode 8 Recap
The Punisher season 2 episode 8 picks right up with where the previous episode ended. Billy comes to his senses and orders his guys to stop the car. Billy gets out and wages a one-man war against Frank. When the cops arrive, Billy fires on them, too, until the getaway car arrives. Frank tries to run them down, but Mahoney follows, eventually catching Frank in a blocked alley. Mahoney is about to arrest Frank when Curtis arrives. Frank knocks out Mahoney and the two get away.
I Know, But I Don’t Feel It
Billy is still shell shocked. When a couple of the guys on the crew–including the “hostage” from the job–start bickering about the money and the way things went down, Billy shoots them both and leaves with the money. He returns to Dumont’s and bangs on her door, pleading with her to let him in. Billy can’t understand why Frank would try to kill him. How could Frank have done this too him? Dumont says that now that Billy knows his fear, he can face it and walk away from it reborn.
Later, Billy snaps. He says that Dumont has been playing him, trying to control him. Surely she knew that Frank did this to him. Why didn’t she tell him. Dumont claims that she did’t know, but Billy’s not buying it. He begins trashing her apartment. When she tries to calm him, Billy grabs Dumont and forces her against her window, making her face her fear. Dumont asks if it’s really that scary for Billy to think that maybe she loves him? That maybe he could be better than he is? She says he has to choose.
Billy chooses to meet the rest of his guys. He tosses them the money and says it’s all there. If that’s all they want, then they’re welcome to take it and walk away. But, he wants more. He suggests they invest this money in weapons and manpower, that they find more people like them who are tired of scraping by and are ready to take control. He’s building an army.
Frank’s Black, One-Legged Friend
Curtis is worries that the NYPD is looking for Frank’s black, one-legged friend. While Frank heads inside the warehouse where the NYPD is processing the crime scene, Curtis gets a series of texts from Delia. He’s stuck watching the life he’s tried to build slipping away from him. Frank has Curtis drive them back to Jake’s apartment, where Frank beats on Jake some more, looking for answers about where Billy is now. Curtis stops Frank, telling him that he’s become just like Billy.
Castle’s Got a Code
Mahoney heads to Madani’s apartment. He tells her about his run in with Billy and Frank. He suggests that she knew about the robbery and sicced Frank on Billy. Madani tells Mahoney that Frank has a code; Mahoney says that Frank’s a murderer. He wants her to give up Billy and Frank to the NYPD.
“Amen to That”
Amy is bored in the trailer alone. When she sees Frank and Curtis returning, she tries to jump Frank and take his gun from him. Frank puts Amy on the ground and tells her this isn’t a game. Frank says that people died because he and Curtis didn’t finish the job. Frank storms out and visits his family’s graves, thoughts about how much he and Billy are alike tumbling around in his head.
Curt and Madani arrive at the trailer, separately. The tree compare notes. Pilgrim confronted Madani, wanting Frank and Amy. Mahoney is looking for Frank and Billy, and Madani is seriously thinking about giving them to him. Curt tells Amy that Frank only acted like he did because he cares about her and he hates that because caring for someone else means that he can be hurt again. All three just want their old lives back.
