The Punisher Season 2 Episode 3 Recap
The Punisher season 2 episode 3 opens on a small country church, where the preacher warns his congregants that their sins will come back to haunt them. Among those in attendance is Pilgrim. After the service, a prominent, affluent man in the town asks Pilgrim how Rebecca is doing. Pilgrim’s wife is receiving an experimental treatment for an unnamed condition, thanks to this man and his wife. Pilgrim says that he is in the man’s debt, which results in the man and his wife sending Pilgrim on the mission he is currently on. As he dressed to leave, we see a number of faded tattoos on his body.
The Only Way To Control Them
Billy meets with Dr. Dumont. He is anxious, only getting an average of about 2 hours of sleep a night. He’s not taking the sedatives prescribed to him. He doesn’t want to sleep because of the nightmares, the skull in his dreams stalking him. Dumont tells Billy that the treatment plan is for him to expose himself to his nightmares so that he can eventually control the fear. Billy becomes upset, leading the hospital guards to enter the room. Billy beats the guards with their own weapons, then uses Dumont to get out of the hospital as it goes on lock down.
Reap The Whirlwind
At the sheriff’s office, none of the officers can get a straight story on the apprehended. Rachel has a string of aliases in her file. Marlena has a file of military service and as a security contractor. “Pete” has no file, no known address, nothing. Frank says that all the sheriff needs to know is that the people paying Marlena are going to want her back and to make all of this disappear.
Pilgrim and the police lieutenant from Michigan come to claim Marlena and Frank on extradition. The sheriff, however, says they don’t have the paperwork for a transfer and that they’ll have to wait until the suspects have been arraigned–on Thursday. Pilgrim says he respects the sheriff as a man of faith, but that he is about to reap the whirlwind. Outside, Pilgrim gives a sign and the power and phone lines are cut and radio signals jammed.
Not My Case
Madani returns to the hospital. Dumont is waiting for a detective to take her statement. Madani can’t believe that Dumont still thinks that this hasn’t been Billy’s plan from the beginning. Dumont says that Billy isn’t functioning at a high enough level to make plans, that he acted out of fear and instinct. NYPD detective Brett Mahoney arrives and bars Madani from the scene, not wanting her presence to compromise any potential case they might have against Billy. Madani makes off with Billy’s nightmare journal. She tries calling Frank back at the sheriff’s office in Ohio, but no one answers.
Turn Me Loose
Against Frank’s advice, the sheriff sends one of his deputies to try and get out of the radio jammer’s range and call for help. Pilgrim shoots the deputy in the gut. Pilgrim and the sheriff meet outside the office and again Pilgrim asks the sheriff to release Marlena, Frank, and Rachel to him so no one else gets hurt.
Instead, the sheriff prepares for war. An army of mercenaries surrounds the station, firing on those inside. Frank knows it’s a diversion and tells them to guard the back door, which the bad guys blow out in order to free Marlena. Rachel get the injured deputy’s keys and frees Frank, who drives off the bad guys.
Frank tells the sheriff that the next move is to burn them out. The sheriff arms Frank and sends him out into the woods to deal with the mercenaries. Frank kills all except Pilgrim, who get the drop on Frank, but is spotted by the Homeland Security chopper in the air. Pilgrim escapes into the woods.
Madani tells the sheriff that Frank was never here. Frank agrees to come back to New York when Madani tells him that Billy escaped, but only if he can bring Rachel.
