See No Evil‘s “The Wrong Woman” will be aired on ID on Wednesday, March 13, 2024, at 8 p.m. ET. The episode will follow the botched murder-for-hire of Alisha Canales-McGuire that occurred after Kevin Lewis ordered the murder of his ex-wife, who was Alisha’s sister.

On the morning of September 20, 2017, Alisha Canales-McGuire was shot at her sister Amanda Canales’s Everett home. Investigators then learned that Amanda’s ex-husband, Kevin Lewis, paid a 20-year-old Tacoma man and a 17-year-old Spokane girl to murder Amanda. However, Amanda was away on a business trip, and Alisha opened the door when the killers shot her.

According to court documents, Kevin Lewis and Amanda Canales married in 2009 and had three children. However, in February 2017, Amanda moved out of Lewis’s home and into an Everett duplex, where she began staying with her children. She reportedly did not return despite repeated requests from Lewis. According to Amanda Canales, Kevin Lewis was an abusive partner. The abuse had also turned physical towards the end of the marriage, per CBS News.

After Lewis showed up at her house without any intimation in June 2017, she filed for a protection order that kept him away from her and her children. The court also ordered the children to stay with Amanda while Kevin pays child support.

Alisha Canales-McGuire was reportedly at her sister’s house because she was taking care of Amanda’s children along with Abigail Ruggles, their stay-in nanny. On September 19, 2017, the children had a supervised visit scheduled with their father. He didn’t speak much during the visit. On the next day, as the children slept inside the house, 24-year-old Alisha was shot, following which Ruggles found her dead in a pool of blood.

What was Kevin Lewis convicted of?

Kevin Lewis was found to have paid Jerradon Phelps and Alexis Hale $2,400 to kill Amanda Canales at her residence. He was found guilty of first-degree aggravated murder and was sentenced to life in prison without a chance for parole. Phelps and Hale pleaded guilty to first-degree murder with a firearm and were sentenced to 31⅔ and 15 years in prison, according to the Herald Net.

According to court documents, Alisha Canales-McGuire died from “gunshot wounds to the head and trunk.” The killer reportedly shot seven times with the door partially open. The gun was fired from outside the house to inside. Four of the bullets that were recovered from the body were found to have been shot from a 9 millimeter. All the bullets were shot from the same firearm.

Investigators found that Jerradon Phelps and his girlfriend Alexis lived in Spokane then. They had driven to Snohomish County during the murder. Immediately after the murder, Phelps reportedly posted a picture of several $100 bills on social media. Alexis also bragged to several people that she had been hired to murder someone, CBS News reported.

The upcoming episode of See No Evil will air on ID on Wednesday, March 13, 2024, at 8 p.m. ET. It will delve into the murder of Alisha Canales-McGuire and the following conviction of Kevin Lewis.
