Reed wanted to do something big and auditioned for an indie horror film, From The Dark. However, things got really ugly when the authorities received the video of the crime.

The video turned out to be crucial in the arrest of Tucker Reed. However, the young actress took a plea deal and pleaded guilty to the charge of manslaughter. As a result, the court sentenced her to six years and three months in prison. Even after pleading guilty, Tucker Reed continued saying that she shot her uncle in self-defense.

But what prompted her to shoot her uncle? Let’s dig deeper and get to know more about the case that killed the career of a talented young woman.

Dateline NBC: Tucker Reed’s manslaughter case explored

The arrest of Tucker Reed sent shockwaves among the people who knew her and couldn’t believe what they read about the case. Her co-stars always said that she could be the next big thing in Hollywood. However, they didn’t know that her career was about to be over because of a deadly incident. On July 26, 2016, Reed shot and killed her uncle, Shane Moore, after a disagreement between Shane and Reed’s mother, Kelly Moore. According to reports, Reed, along with her mother and grandmother, were having a meeting with a notary in order to sign the property conveyance documents. However, things got ugly when Shane knocked at the door and asked what was going on.

Reed’s mother had an argument with Shane, who reportedly threatened the family. Reed didn’t take much time to pick up a gun and told Shane to get out of the house. A few seconds later, Reed pulled the trigger and killed Shane with a single bullet wound. She recorded the entire incident on her phone. After the initial arrest, Tucker Reed posted bail and didn’t spend time in behind bars. As soon as she came out, she started filming for the movie and received praise from her co-stars. However, in 2018, the authorities acquired Reed’s mobile as evidence after the shooting. At the time, the police didn’t have the passcode and had to return the phone. However, they didn’t know that the phone had the video recording of the entire incident.

Reed sent to prison after the shocking video footage of the shooting

According to the video, Shane tried entering the home despite a restraining order that barred him from coming near his niece, Tucker Reed. Shane allegedly physically assaulted Reed in the past. As the argument continued, Reed pulled the trigger and killed her uncle. In the video, she can be heard saying that Shane wasn’t supposed to be near her because of his violent nature. The judge saw the video and noted that Shane didn’t even enter the house properly when the shooting took place. Additionally, the court also said that Tucker Reed was “angry” that Shane didn’t die on the spot. The judge sent Reed to prison, and she is currently serving her sentence at a prison in Wilsonville, Oregon.
