Is Robert Durst Still Alive?

On January 10, 2022, Robert Durst died in a state prison hospital facility in Stockton, due to a cardiac arrest. At the time of his death, Durst was 78 years old.

Robert Durst was the prime suspect in three cases. The disappearance of his wife, Kathleen McCormack, the murder of his friend Susan Berman, and the murder of his neighbor Morris Black. These incidents occurred in 1982, 2000, and 2001. In 2003, officials failed to find him guilty of the murder of Black.

He was safe from law enforcement until 2015 when he appeared in the HBO documentary miniseries titled, The Jinx. In 2021, he was convicted of Susan Berman’s murder and sentenced to life imprisonment.

Kathleen McCormack’s case too was opened and Durst was charged. However, he died even before the trial kicked off.

The Jinx synopsis and other details

According to Rotten Tomatoes, the synopsis of The Jinx reads, “A groundbreaking six-part documentary directed and produced by Andrew Jarecki and produced and shot by Marc Smerling (the Oscar nominees behind “Capturing the Friedmans”) delves into the strange history of real estate heir Robert Durst, long suspected in the still-unsolved 1982 disappearance of his wife as well as the subsequent murders of family friend Susan Berman and neighbor Morris Black.”

It continues, “It features an extended, revealing interview with Durst himself, with whom Jarecki developed a unique relationship following the release of “All Good Things,” Jarecki’s 2010 feature about Durst’s life starring Ryan Gosling and Kirsten Dunst. “The Jinx” results from nearly a decade of research by the filmmakers, who expose police files, key witnesses, never-before-seen footage, private prison recordings, and thousands of pages of formerly hidden documents.”

The Jinx was directed by Andrew Jarecki. In addition, its writers were Marc Smerling, Zac Stuart-Pontier, and Jarecki. The documentary miniseries consisted of six episodes in total.
