Why Was David Parker Ray Called the Toy Box Killer?

David Parker Ray was a suspected serial killer, and, he was convicted of committing hideous crimes like kidnapping, torture, and rape. Many of Ray’s accomplices accused him of murder. According to them, he killed several women. Furthermore, the police suspected that he even took the lives of at least 60 people. His victims were from Arizona and New Mexico, and he resided in Elephant Butte, New Mexico.

David Parker Ray was called the “Toy Box Killer” because he used to perform his sexual torture acts in a semi-trailer which he called his “Tox Box”. Furthermore, this trailer was soundproofed. He used to kidnap between five to six women a year and hold them captive for three to four months.

What did David Parker Ray do to his victims?

After kidnapping his victims, David Parker Ray would sexually abuse them. In addition, he would even torture them using surgical instruments. According to All That’s Interesting, he would even make his dog and wife (willingly) involved in whatever he did.

After Ray was done, he would abandon his victims by the side of the road. However, before doing that, he drugged them with barbiturates in order to make them forget what had happened.

One of his surviving victims, Cynthia Jaramillo, was interviewed by KRQE in 2022. Cynthia was a sex worker, however, she had a couple of rules for herself. The first one was to never get in an RV. Unfortunately, in March 1999, she broke her own rule. Cynthia said, “I don’t know what was going through my head that day, but I broke all my rules right there. When we get to the back of the RV, he pulls out a badge and throws handcuffs on my wrist. I was like, wait…no, no, this isn’t right you ain’t a cop.”

David Parker Ray received 224 years in prison for his crimes. However, he died from a heart attack on May 28, 2002.
