Jeffrey Dahmer committed most of his crimes in his apartment located in Milwaukee. The name of this residential complex was Oxford Apartments, and Dahmer used to live in Apartment 213. He used to pay a monthly rent of $300, in which electricity was also included. In this day and age, this sinister place does not exist anymore as a few months after Dahmer’s apprehension it was demolished.
Jeffrey Dahmer’s terror reigned from 1978 to 1991. He took the lives of 17 males of different age groups. Apart from murder, he even took part in deranged activities like necrophilia, cannibalism, and even preserved the body parts of his victims. On July 22, 1991, he was going to commit his 18th murder. However, the cops managed to arrest him and put an end to his wickedness.
What happened to Jeffrey Dahmer’s Apartment 213 in Oxford Apartments?
The building the Milwaukee Monster used to live in does not exist anymore. According to Esquire, 15 months after the serial killer’s arrest, Oxford Apartments was demolished at the request of his victims’ families.
Furthermore, it was impossible to rent Apartment 213. Not only was it because of bloodstains. A place where 11 people lost their lives in the hands of a notorious serial killer was simply not attracting buyers or renters. The New York Times even described Dahmer’s place as a “killing factory”.
Back in 1995, the Campus Circle Project bought the land over which the building stood. Its price was $325,000 and the Marquette University helped them with the purchase. The older tenants received a new building to stay in. Furthermore, the empty area was almost going to become a children’s playground. However, that plan simply did not go through.
Currently, the building’s location is just a large empty lot. However, there is no restriction on visiting the place.
