Where Are the Menendez Brothers Now?

The infamous Menendez brothers consist of Lyle and Erik Menendez, and in 1996, the USA was rattled by the horrific crime the duo committed. To this date, their actions are a subject of heated discussion and debates. Lyle and Erik were convicted for brutally murdering their parents in 1996.

In the court, the brothers argued that whatever they did was a response to years of parental physical, mental, and sexual torture. They were scared for their lives because they threatened to expose their father. Lyle and Erik believed that their father was going to kill them. However, during the trial, the prosecution argued that the brothers killed their parents in order to inherit their father’s wealthy estate. The brothers are currently serving life sentences at the Richard J. Donovan Correctional Facility in San Diego.

What did the Menendez Brothers do?

The Menendez Brothers, i.e. Lyle and Erik Menendez, lived with their family in Beverly Hills, California. Their family possessed immense wealth and on the surface, the family looked perfect. Unfortunately, little did onlookers know that Lyle and Erik planned to murder their parents, Jose and Mary (AKA Kitty) Menendez.

On August 20, 1989, when Jose and Mary were in their spectacular mansion, their sons entered with shotguns. Jose was shot six times in the face and Mary was shot ten times. Eventually, both of them succumbed to their injuries. Usually, criminals flee the crime scene after their actions. However, the Menendez brothers did not leave the house.

When the cops finally showed up, Erik and Lyle explained that the murders took place in their absence. They furthermore said that they had gone to watch the film Batman and were even attending the “Taste of L.A.” festival at the Santa Monica Civic Auditorium.

The Menendez brothers were arrested in 1990 and both were sentenced to life in prison in 1996. Lyle is currently 55 years old while Erik is 52.
