Interview: Christopher Landon On the Paranormal Activity End Game, the Creative…

The Paranormal Activity franchise has always tried to create an air of mystery. You know nothing about the plot going in. There’s never an opening studio logo and each film gives the impression like you’re watching something classified. That’s changed a bit with Paranormal Activity: The Marked Ones, the first film in the series to actually open with the Paramount logo. Some of the players involved have also been offered up for interviews – which usually doesn’t happen – and we leapt at the chance to speak with Christopher Landon, who serves as writer-director on The Marked Ones.

He has also been part of the series since Paranormal Activity 2, helping shape the franchise’s mythology.

We first spoke to Landon during the press tour for Disturbia, which he penned, and he proved to be an excited and avid fan of horror. Inside, Landon chats with us about how he became involved in the series, how a test screening for Paranormal Activity 3 paved the way for The Marked Ones, how there is an end game in place for the series, where he’s at with Boy Scouts vs. Zombies? and he talks about a proposed Christine remake that never came to fruition.

Paranormal Activity: The Marked Ones’ Box Office Numbers Are In

?Taking into account a massive East Coast snow storm and a Disney animated blockbuster, Paranormal Activity: The Marked Ones didn’t do too shabby at the box office its opening weekend.

The spin-off opened at number two, grossing an estimated $18.2 million. It’s the first in the franchise to not open at number one during its three-day debut. The fifth film in the series is also the first to open in January; all of the other entries enjoyed their success in October and have opened to higher numbers.

And the Director of Paranormal Activity 5 is…

We’re not getting a Paranormal Activity film in October, but Blumhouse Productions and Paramount are making sure the franchise’s presence is felt this season.  In the wake of the news that Jason Pagan and Andrew Stark were scripting the sequel comes word of a director.

Paranormal Activity 5 Now Has Writers

When Paranormal Activity opened, it kicked of an October tradition.  Every year since 2009 we’ve seen a new installment in the series.  Except for this year.  When October rolls around next week, fans will not have Paranormal Activity 5 to look forward to, however, it is slated to open October 24, 2014.

Today, the film inches closer to becoming a reality.

The Hollywood Reporter says it has landed a pair of writers.  Newcomers to the series, in fact.

Two Paranormal Activity Films on the Way in 2014

Paranormal Activity 5 for January 2014? Here’s What Jason Blum Told Us…
