“It’s a few years after the first one. It’s not an immediate follow-up…”
Preview night at Comic-Con has come to an end and what was one of the highlights of the evening? Not standing in line for 40 minutes to get a Jason Edmiston print of the Joker (as played by Caesar Romero). Nope. The highlight was when I became a Jaeger pilot at the Legendary Pictures booth thanks to the modern-day alchemy that Oculus VR provides.
Legendary is offering Comic-Con attendees the Pacific Rim: Jaeger Pilot experience. I’ll let them explain what it is first before giving my first-hand thoughts…
It’s probably best to let go of the notion of a Hellboy 3. Guillermo del Toro dropped this nugget of information during a Reddit AMA yesterday to promote The Strain which airs tomorrow night on FX.
Hellboy 3 has been the subject of a lot of rumors and rumblings over the years. Last summer, when Pacific Rim was hitting theaters, Ron Perlman was lobbying hard for a third installment that would tie up the film series. Things have quieted down since then, however.
Below, please find all of the horror-related panels taking place the San Diego Comic-Con on Saturday, July 26th.

Shock Till You Drop will be hitting the con hard this year, bringing you interviews, reviews, photos and more. So stay tuned!
This is what I adore about Guillermo del Toro. For every behemoth project he immerses himself in, he takes the time to tackle something small and, perhaps, more intimate.
Del Toro, who is making the press rounds for The Strain (airing this Sunday), revealed today that before he dives into production on Pacific Rim 2, he’ll be directing a black and white film next! He told Collider:
Last Thursday, we got the big announced that Pacific Rim 2 will hit theaters on April 7, 2017 and that we’re also getting an animated series and a continuation of the Pacific Rim: Tales from Year Zero prequel graphic novel. Now, director Guillermo del Toro has talked a bit more to the The Wall Street Journal about all three. He says he will start designing ?Pacific Rim 2 with a core team in August, a process that can take anywhere from six to nine months.
Guillermo del Toro was down in Austin, Texas for the premiere of The Strain – which debuts July 13th on FX.
In speaking with the press – in this case, Buzzfeed – Del Toro said he is currently at work on a script for Pacific Rim 2 with Zak Penn. Huh? What? No Travis Beacham, screenwriter of the first film?
