The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City star Mary Cosby gave an update on her son, Robert Jr., during The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City reunion episode on January 20, 2026. Robert Jr. is currently awaiting sentencing on charges including assault, criminal trespassing, and other offenses. She revealed that she had not visited her son in prison and explained why.

RHOSLC star Mary Cosby opened up about her son, Robert Jr., during The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City Season 6 reunion on Tuesday, January 20, 2026. She became emotional after watching scenes involving her 23-year-old son. Robert Jr. was arrested in 2025 after multiple incidents involving him, his estranged wife, and his father-in-law came to light.
When asked what was making her emotional, she said, “My son,” fighting back tears (via PEOPLE). Robert’s recent arrest came in November after he went to his ex’s house. “They filed a restraining order against him, and he went back anyway, thinking that she wants him to come back and save her,” Cosby explained.
“I don’t know where he’s getting that from. Delusional,” she continued, “And every time he’d go back over there, they would call the police, and they’d arrest him, and this time they tased him.”
Robert Jr. pleaded guilty to eight charges in November. This included assault, criminal trespass, violation of a protective order, violation of a jail release court order, and additional offenses.
Mary said she was relieved that he was currently in a “good place.”
“I’m not worried about him, I know he’s somewhere where he’s not using,” she said. By this, she referred to his long-standing issues with drug addiction, “I have to step back so that he can learn, and he can make his own decision.”
Speaking about visiting him, Mary Cosby, an original cast member of RHOSLC, explained, “Unfortunately, he’s learning the hard way, but I’m okay with it. It’s just, you don’t want to see your kid suffer, but I know it’s good, and I’d rather him be there than dead.”
“I can’t go to the jail, Andy, that’s a little weird,” she explained about why she did not visit him, “No. I don’t want to look at my child behind the glass. He calls me every day, and I’m basically preaching to him. I’m like, ‘You are going through this, but you have to realize that God is allowing it, and if God allowed it, then it’s for your good. This will help you to change, and you have got to change.’”
She added, “I hope this all is for his good.”
